Geocache Description:

If you're like me, over the years you have accummulated a large collection of unused Geocaching Containers. Maybe someone else is looking for a container for their next hide.

Bring all your unused containers that you don't have any plans for and exchange them with someone who can put it to good use in 2026!

We'll meet in the food court of the Outlet Collection Mall near the EAT sign on the North end.

Where: Outlet Collection Mall, 555 Sterling Lyon Parkway
Date: Tuesday, December 30th, 2025
Time: 3:30PM to 5:30PM

Questionable Geocaching Containers (avoid if possible):

  • Containers not designed for outdoor use will quickly fail, leading to wet, molded logbooks and litter in nature.

  • Flimsy plastic food containers: Items like plastic clamshells (for pastries), disposable "Tupperware" or "Gladware" style containers.

  • Any container that had ever contained food or scented items: (eg. Peanut Butter jars). No matter how much one of these containers are cleaned, they will always have the scent of the food it stored. Humans may not be able to smell it, but animals can. Since animals have a superior sense of smell it will attract them and possibly cause them to chew on and destroy the container, and can cause harm to the animal.

  • Glass jars: Glass is a poor choice because it can break, creating dangerous shards that could injure geocachers, particularly children.

  • Non-sealed items: A log sheet in just a plastic baggie or shoved in a hole without a proper container will inevitably get wet and damaged.

  • Containers without gaskets: Pill bottles, matchstick containers, and other containers without a proper, durable rubber O-ring seal are prone to leaking.

  • Plain steel containers: While ammo cans are generally excellent, non-stainless steel can rust quickly when exposed to constant dampness.

  • This could be your final chance to attend a Community Celebration Event for 2025! It's been a great year for Geocaching! Let's keep up the momentum for 2026!
