Cache hiders are the lifeblood of any caching community. Without them, there isn't anything to do and everything falls apart.
In December 2024, c and j's mom and c&j's dad began hiding caches around the region as a sort of Christmas present to me. This was a huge help to the region, which kept seeing year over year cache publication numbers dwindle. As of mid-November 2025, they placed almost 800 geocaches from Kernersville to the west to Durham in the east, I-40 in the south, and South Boston in the north. A massive swath of land is covered and a huge amount of time and materials have gone into this. And what's more, they actively maintain all these caches and contact cachers when they see DNFs. That's just impressive. And, because of it, I was able to pursue another interest throughout the year: MiLB photography. So, thank you for that, too!
Since they rarely ever attend events, I'm making an event for them to attend and you to meet them. They're not a myth. I chose an ice cream shop in this shopping center because people seemed to like an ice cream event I made previously. (That and c and j's mom likes the brand of ice cream they have here.) This time, though, the time will be after lunch so people have the opportunity to be on the road before dark. A purchase is not necessary to attend the event.
So, come meet the parents and share stories of finding their caches--and others'. Doubtless, there will be tales involving guard rails and cedar trees...
