[RO] Cutia a fost pusă cu ocazia eventului GeoDino Quest XVI şi face parte din geoartul DINO
Ştiaţi că: Cetatea Regală a Haţegului a fost strâns legată de voievozii Transilvaniei, unii dintre aceștia având și titlul de castelani de Hațeg. La 24 septembrie 1420, ca urmare a înfrângerii armatei voievodului transilvănean la poalele dealului de către otomani, cetatea este distrusă. Va fi refăcută după 1438, când intră în stăpânirea lui Ioan de Hunedoara și a nobililor loiali lui, din familia Cândea, familie în posesia căreia va rămâne după mijlocul secolului XV. Din secolul XVI, cetatea își pierde rolul de până atunci, fiind se pare abandonată, chiar dacă este în continuare menționată în diverse documente. Din acest moment a început ruinarea constantă a construcției, din cauze mai mult naturale decât umane, până în stadiul în care se află astăzi
Fortăreaţa a fost construită din piatră locală, pietre și cărămizi din construcții romane antice, varul folosit a fost obținut din topirea unor bucăți de marmură, iar nisipul și pietrișul, din albia râurilor din zonă. Ridicat la cota de 490 metri, donjonul domina zona, având panoramă clară asupra pasului Merișor și a vechiului drum roman ce traversa zona. În zilele senine se putea vedea inclusiv până şi oraşul Hunedoara

Did you know that: The Hateg Royal Fortress was closely linked to the voivodes of Transylvania, some of whom also had the title of Castilians of Hațeg. On September 24, 1420, as a result of the Ottoman defeat of the Transylvanian voivode's army at the foot of the hill, the fortress was destroyed. It will be rebuilt after 1438, when it came into the possession of Ioan de Hunedoara and his loyal nobles, from the Cândea family, a family in whose possession it will remain after the middle of the 15th century. Since the 16th century, the fortress has lost its role until then, being apparently abandoned, even though it is still mentioned in various documents. From this moment began the constant ruin of the building, for reasons more natural than human, to the stage it is today.
The fortress was built of local stone, stones and bricks from ancient Roman constructions, the lime used was obtained from melting pieces of marble, and sand and gravel, from the riverbed in the area. Elevated to a height of 490 meters, the keep dominates the area, with a clear view of the Merișor pass and the old Roman road that crossed the area. Even on clear days, the city of Hunedoara could be seen
