Geocache Description:

This kache is located on the Wadhams to Avoca trail here in St Clair County and is used by walkers, hikers, bikers, horseback riders, and outdoor enthusiasts.

Stealth is required as many muggles enjoy this area and the nicely-paved trail all year long and in all types of weather.

At the south end of the trail in Kimball Township, over 5 miles of trail have been paved with part of the paved-section passing through a developing residential area. To insure trail-user safety, a traffic signal was installed at the Wadhams Road crossing.

The trail re-uses many miles of historic former rail property, which ran from Port Huron to Saginaw and originally built in the late-1800's.   The rail lines ran through, or near, many of the small towns that have now been mostly-forgotten, except for the names that show on local maps or signs in the area.

The last active owner of the railroad line was CSX, which abandoned the line in 1988, which would eventually sell the railway property to St Clair County Parks & Rec.  The Parks & Rec department began redevelopment to the trail beginning in 1999.

Camping is one of our favorite pastimes, along with geocaching, hiking/biking, and even walking.
