Woodman Point Munitions
Location Information
Explosives magazines played an important role in the country’s defence effort during World War II as a storage facility for cordite, used in the manufacture of munitions at a factory in Welshpool. The explosives magazines are unique in that the buildings constructed at Woodman Point for the Commonwealth Department of the Interior at the outbreak of World War II are the only munitions magazines ever built within Western Australia to such a design. Explosives magazines in combination with the remnants of the barrier berms and railway sidings from the original explosives reserve create a distinctive landscape which strongly reflects the explosives storage history of the locality. This building and others in the Reserve played a significant role in the military defence operations of Western Australia during World War II.
Cache Information
This cache is a bison hidden discretely on the outside of the building using a fishing line technique. There is no need to enter the structure, which is off limits.
As is always the case, please make sure that you return the cache as found, to ensure that future geocachers enjoy the same experience that you do.
Don't forget to bring your own writing implement, as one is not provided.
