Geocache Description:

Challenge Awaits:

Lincoln Peak offers one of the most breathtaking views in the Mad River Valley. As you stand at the top, around 3,975 feet in elevation, you're surrounded by the wild beauty of the Green Mountains. From this vantage point, the landscape seems to stretch endlessly, offering a panoramic view that encompasses not only Vermont’s lush rolling hills and deep green forests but also distant peaks like Mount Mansfield and the Adirondacks of New York on a clear day.

To the east, the Mad River winds its way through the valley below, glinting in the sunlight as it snakes through patches of farmland and dense woodland. During fall, this view transforms into a sea of fiery reds, oranges, and yellows as the autumn foliage takes hold, while in winter, snow-covered peaks and a white, frosted landscape create a serene winter wonderland.

Look south and you can catch glimpses of Warren Village nestled in the valley, as well as the peaks of Mt. Ellen and Castlerock nearby, both iconic parts of the Sugarbush Resort. If you turn west, beyond the valley floor, the rugged silhouette of the Appalachian Mountains and the distant Lake Champlain can be seen shimmering under the sun.

Up at the peak, the wind has a brisk freshness to it, and the quiet of the mountain can be both humbling and peaceful. The exposed rock formations and alpine terrain at the top offer a perfect place to reflect and admire the beauty of the area. There’s a sense of accomplishment once you reach the peak, and with the sprawling vistas around you, it’s a view that truly captures the spirit of Vermont’s mountains. The geocache waits patiently nearby, hidden among the natural landscape, offering a reward not only in the find but in the unforgettable view you’ll take with you.
