Geocache Description:

Welcome to the MAC Fall Fling 2025!

Welcome to Camp Muffly, a quiet park tucked away in the heart of Mountaineer Country. Join the Mountaineer Area Cachers in a celebration of all things Geocaching with this unique Community Celebration event. Enjoy a bite to eat, participate in games, and learn what's next for the future of Geocaching in the Mountain State. We hope to see you there!

📍 Location: Pavilion 4 at Camp Muffly

⏰ Time: 11 am - 1 pm

Pot-luck Lunch

Starting at 11:30 pm, a potluck lunch will be available. When logging a will-attend, please let us know what you are bringing to share. The pavilion has an electric grill and a charcoal grill, if anyone is available to grill hot dogs.

Travel Bug Race

The Mountaineer Area Cachers organization will be hosting a travel bug race to start on October 18 and last until March 18. Here's how it works:

  • MAC will supply each participant with up to three travel bug dog tags to be used in the competition. Participants will need to supply a travel buddy (happy meal toy, matchbox car, etc.) and bring it to the event to register.
  • All travel bugs will need to be registered on Geocaching.com and logged as "visited" at this event to start. Travel bugs will then need to be placed in a geocache within at least 50 miles of the posted coordinates.
  • Each travel bug will get 1 point for every 100 miles traveled. Travel bugs can earn additional points by completing the mystery goal, which will be revealed at this event.
  • Important Note. Travel bugs are NOT to be intentionally moved by other MAC members after the start of the race. For example, another MAC member (competing or not) cannot retrieve a travel bug and move it thousands of miles to rack up additional points. These miles will be disregarded in final calculations. Similarly, MAC members should not sabotage other trackables by moving them to seldom-visited caches.

New Caches

After the event, new caches will be published around the Mountaineer Area. If you have any Adventure Lab credits, we encourage you to join in the fun and have the bonus cache published around 1 pm as well.
