You are invited to a paddling event on the Erie Canal. We will meet at the Lock 32 State Canal Park, where we will be launching our boats and will be going through Erie Canal Lock 32.
The official event times will be from 4pm to 4:45pm, as that is the time I will be at the launch area. I listed the event as T1.5 as you do not have to participate in the paddle portion to attend. At 4:45pm we will begin our paddle and will go through Lock 32 and paddle east. We will go through the lock again on our way back to the launch. Bring a pair of gloves as we will hold onto a rope along the side of the lock wall as the water levels change. I have done this twice and it was a lot of fun. The water levels change slowly, and the gloves are needed as the rope you hold onto gets a little "slimey" from having been under water. A life vest and whistle are required, and I recommend bringing bottled water, sunscreen, and bug spray.
If anyone is not planning to paddle, and would like to take pics of all of the boats in the lock, I would appreciate it.
This event was biglbe's idea 6 years ago. Many thanks to her for the idea. 6 years ago we had 35 boats go through at one time and the lockmaster said it was the most he had go through at one time. Can we beat that record this year???
