Ciphers first appeared to hide important information. Per Wikipedia, History of Cryptography, “Some clay tablets from Mesopotamia somewhat later are clearly meant to protect information—one dated near 1500 BC was found to encrypt a craftsman's recipe for pottery glaze, presumably commercially valuable.” That appears to be the oldest cipher, some 3,500 years ago. Since that time ciphers have grown in complexity!
The cipher does not appear to have had a hidden message use when it was created. How it was built lent a feature that could be used as a code.

The cache has room for SWAG, so come prepared! T1L1 The cache also has SWAG cards to recognize 6 other codes/ciphers and how to decode them. More codes/ciphers will be added, as time permits.
