Područje ispod dvorca dolazi pod tursku vlast 1513. godine. Godine 1686.

The castle above the village was built around 1200 to guard the passage from Trilje in Cetina to Livno in Bosnia. Its first written mention comes from the charter of King Ljudevit the Great from 1345 in the form of "Chechuven", when he gave the area around Cetina to Ivan Nelipic. In 1372, it still belonged to Ivan Nelipcsics, and from 1426 it was a royal castle. In 1435 it became the property of the Frangepans, but in 1436 it belonged to the Tallócs. In the middle of the 15th century, it was temporarily taken over by István Vukcsics, Duke of Humi, and then again by Tallócziasi. During the Turkish expansion in the second half of the 15th century, it was one of the key fortifications of the Croatian border defense system. The Turks occupied it at the beginning of the 16th century and built bastions with cannons. The castle remained in Turkish hands until 1717. The area below the castle came under Turkish rule in 1513. In 1686, Trilj and its surroundings were freed from Turkish rule, but with the Peace of Karlovac in 1699, it was again in Turkish hands. Meanwhile, in 1698, a new Christian population immigrated from Herzegovina and Poljica. The final liberation came only in 1718 after the Peace of Požareva, which ended the new Venetian-Turkish war, which drew the new border to Kamešnica. Archbishop Cupilli visited the castle and the settlement on June 16, 1718 and found no church either in the castle or in the village. The archbishop ordered that the first house under the castle be converted into a church and consecrated in honor of the holy guardian angels. After that, the castle lost its military importance and was left to decay.
