The 1st October is World Postcard Day! This day began in 2019 to mark the 150th anniversary of the postcard. Every year, postcard enthusiasts meet up to celebrate the occasion, even making special postcards and stamps!
HQ have announced there will be an official World Postcard Day souvenir for anyone attending an event between 29th September and 5th October to celebrate this. This is one way to ensure you get the souvenir on World Postcard Day itself.
Join me for a half hour meet up in the very picturesque Halifax Piece Hall - a setting worthy of a postcard! If you are a lover of postcards, please feel free to bring some along to show off. UPDATE - if anyone is interested in taking part in a postcard exchange with other cachers, please see the announcement below made on 21/09/2024 - closing date to sign up for this is 25/09/2024.
If the weather is dry, we will be out in the open. If its miserable, we will be tucked under the colonnade close to the published coords, keeping dry.
The venue is a short walk from both the bus station and the train station. There is plenty of parking around the town centre (please be aware that some of it is still pay and display at that time of night). After the event, there is the option to head for food or to one of the many pubs for a drink if people are interested.
Trackables - any which fit into a small tupperware box (with the lid on) are more than welcome. If you wish to bring anything larger, you are responsible for passing it along or taking it back if no-one is willing.
