GO is an acronym for GET OUTSIDE! What better way to celebrate 25 years of geocaching than with a community celebration event outside in beautiful nature? Placerita is an east-west running canyon featuring cool, shaded oak groves, a willow and sycamore-lined seasonal stream and numerous other interesting plant and animal communities.
Access to the park is free and free parking is available. Come enjoy the camaraderie of your fellow geocachers, nearby caches, and the Nature Center's history, artifacts, dioramas, and live exhibits. Should you be so inclined, there is a network of self-guiding nature, history and hiking trails in the park, with longer hikes leading to a seasonal waterfall and to the top of the Santa Clarita Divide.
We will gather in the picnic area under the shade of mature oaks and sycamores. A limited selection of snacks and cool drinks will be available. You might want to consider bringing a sack lunch to enjoy. And while seating should be plentiful, it's always a good idea to pack a camp chair in your vehicle just in case you need it and your chair is probably more comfortable than the concrete picnic benches! Note that there will be a raffle towards the end of the published time frame. So please consider joining us on Sunday morning, September 14th starting at 9:30 a.m. We are looking forward to seeing you!
