This year, the Jam Jar Jetty is a celebration of 25 years of geocaching. You could make your lantern geocaching themed and exchange geocaching stories from your caching career.
Jam Jar Jetty
Jam Jar Jetty II
Jam Jar Jetty III
Jam Jar Jetty IV
Where: Lighthouse on the Stone Jetty. Whichever side offers us most protection from the wind.
When: Friday 5th September, 18.30 to 20.30. Sunset is at 19.52. so we'll be aiming to light our lanterns a bit after 19.45.
What do I bring?: Bring a jam jar lantern. Be as creative, or not, as you like. Perhaps there'll be a prize for the best decorated. Bring your own tea lights and matches or means to light. If it's windy and wet, maybe some battery operated fairy lights.... Hopefully you won't need to bring an umbrella!
No chinese lanterns please!
If you are considering attending, please log an attend - if the weather looks poor in the week leading up to the event, watch out for announcements.
UPDATE 9th August - As this is a community celebration event, it would be nice to celebrate fantastic geocaches. If you have done any particularly great caches this year, bring the GC Code(s) and drop them in the celebration jam jar and I will compile a bookmark list after the event.
If you are bringing a geokid, you are responsible for supervising them around lit lanterns. Campdave cannot take responsiblity for singed fingers!
