The Gwen Wildfire started on July 24, 2024 from a lightning strike. It was 28,820 acres in size and 156 structures were lost to the fire. Within the boundry of the fire, I lost 1 geocache, GC9JZQJ The Cattle Chute, as the structure it was hidden next to was completely burned up as well as the cache. Rather than replacing the cache, I decided to Archive it as there is nothing left in the area but rocks - and I hate geocaches placed in rocks. Fortunately, the nearby GC9JWWN Arrow Ridge geocache as well as my cache, GC9JZQ6 The Arrow Fletching, survived the fire.
Even though I labled it as a Park and Grab you will have to do a quick hike up the trail about 200 feet. This is BLM land and open to the public.
