Geocache Description:

Over the years there have been a few places in the area with alligator warning signs.  Alas the habitat loss due to urbanization means that this is one of the last preserves of these warning signs in the area. Tread lightly and watch for the O-Kee-Lee alligators while hunting for this cache.  Rarely spotted but pictures are considered very valuable by local alligator conservation groups!

Trail is very easy, wheelchair and stroller accessible most of the time (I think) but you will have to step off trail to find cache. Maybe a kilometer for full trail so not far at all.  Trail is open but not maintained in winter. May flood in spring.   Dogs are common here and their muggle owners.  Nice park and small beach by trailhead with paddling boat type launch.  Big beach and park on other side of river.  Nice scenic views of the river nearby and the old canoe club also across the river.

Some very beautiful old stumps (from willows?) along this trail including a fantastic one that seems to be reincarnating at this spot.  Nature is so cool sometimes.  This tree taught me about pollarding, coppicing and tree suckers.   No matter what the term it seems like nature is doing her own very cool work after man cut down original tree.  I'm a sucker for beautiful trees and this stump and the new growth are both beautiful in their own ways.   Thought long and hard about making this a climbing cache but ultimately felt like this stump/tree should be left to grow in peace! Please do your best to replace cache as found.  Hope you enjoy a peaceful walk, some river watching, tree admiring, and maybe even an alligator hunt while searching for this cache.

PS - the container is big enough for small travel bugs to trade and/or small swag.  Would love if kids (or young at heart folks) could come and trade stuff while admiring nearby sign and going on an fun 'alligator hunt'.
