Welcome to "What's Old Is New" -- a three-stage multi-cache!
The backstory:
Recently, the hosts for two of my legacy caches (i.e. geoaches I hid a long time ago) were torn down. I posted an informal survey on the local geocaching Facebook page asking whether people thought I should (1) rehide in a completely different way and keep the original GC code in order to preserve those increasingly harder-to-get old month-year combos (though then local geocachers would never be alerted to the new, and IMO cool, hides), or (2) archive the original and rehide in the new way under a new GC code in order to bring both new AND veteran geocachers to visit the new hide (though then those increasingly-rare month-year combos would be lost forever). Except for one or two respondents, everyone felt it was more important to preserve the legacy caches for people trying to fill their caching calendars even if the hide was now completely different. I decided to honor the advice of the majority...but I still wanted to bring local cachers to check out the new hides. But how.....?
This cache:
The above led to the creation of this cache -- "What's Old Is New". This is a three-stage multi-cache. The first two stages bring you to the replacement caches mentioned above...at each of those first two stages, you will need to answer questions about the new hide. At Stage 1 (THE POSTED COORDINATES), your answers will provide the digits you need to determine the final WEST coordinates...at Stage 2 (INCLUDED IN ADDITIONAL WAYPOINTS), your answers will provide the digits you need to determine the final NORTH coordinates.
The coordinates for Stage 1 lead you to the exact spot for the original cache in this stage's location (which used to be a palm tree)...subtract .001 from the N and add .003 to the W for the exact coordinates of its replacement (according to my Garmin).
The coordinates for Stage 2 lead you to the exact spot for the original cache in this stage's location (which used to be a huge black olive tree)...subtract .002 from the N and add .002 to the W for the exact coordinates of its replacement (according to my Garmin).
Note that you do NOT need to actually retrieve or open the containers...you just need to spot them and answer the questions associated with the hides. Please leave all caches where you spotted them when you're finished with each stage.
IMPORTANT: You do NOT need to enter anyone's private property, you do NOT need to dig, and containers are NOT on any wooden fence slabs.
