Did you know that there’s an official day to celebrate postcards? October 1st is World Postcard Day! This began in 2019 to mark the 150th anniversary of the postcard.

This year, GCHQ are celebrating both the geocaching and postcard communities! So, by attending an Event between September 29 and October 5 2024 you will earn a Groundspeak Souvenir.
Postcards were introduced to Britain in 1870. With the expansion of the Victorian rail network in the late 1800’s more and more people were able to reach the British coast, with picture postcards allowing them to show those at home what they were missing. One of those places would have been, and still is, Exmouth!
With this in mind, we’ll be gathering in (hopefully) sunny Exmouth to sign some postcards of our own (aka the log book), enjoy a geo-natter and enjoy a postcard worthy view out over the Devon Coastline.
When: Saturday 5th October 10am -11am
Everyone is welcome, for as little or as long as you like, and we look forward to seeing familiar as well as new faces.
The event is outside, so remember to wrap up warm and bring a brolly just incase!
A log book will be available to those who would like to sign it.
No large trackables, please.
