A soldier took shelter in the area and hid his treasure close by. Weeks later, the soldier retreated to Mill Creek with the intention to return and collect his treasure. When the soldier arrived at Mill Creek, there was a trap waiting and the soldier was caught in a gun fight and killed in action. The soldier's treasure was never found.
