2025 COMMUNITY CELEBRATION EVENT - 25 YEARS OF GEOCACHING!
SATURDAY MAY 3 11AM - 1:30PM
BRIDGMAN PARK NORTH VANCOUVER
Coming up on May Second is a celebration of the trailblazing event that brought about amazing changes in our daily lives and foretold the birth of this engaging activity we all love. The day is affectionately referred to as Big Blue Switch Day - the day the U.S. government "flipped the switch" to end Selective Availability, making GPS satellite service available to the public.
Following closely behind Blue Switch Day comes May 4th, a day that turns our attention, our heart, and our imagination to an era A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away..., inviting us to channel our inner Jedi, Wookie, Ewok, or Sith for a day.
Wedged firmly in place between these two dates of some significance comes an opportunity for us to gather together to revel in celebration of pursuits that engage us and enthrall us. Come join me and our fellow geoachers, Star Wars fans, Trekkies, and assorted characters from across the realms of science fiction at North Vancouver's Bridgman Park for this 2025 Community Celebration Event!
Our intended destination is the Serpent's Tail picnic area in North Vancouver's Bridgman Park. Some of you may recall this park from an event that was hosted by Brambling Rose here exactly 2 years and 2 weeks ago, to send Highlander 71 off across the waters of the Salish Sea to explore the Geocaches of Oceanside, or more specifically, Parksville. While you are here you might wish to acknowledge his 16th year of geocaching.
Or not.
This Event is part of a limited release of Community Celebration Events to celebrate 25 years of geocaching. Geocachers hosted events between January 1, 2025 and December 31, 2025. Learn more about Community Celebration Events on the Geocaching Blog.
