Up the creek with or without a paddle. I'll be paddling from Bobbin Head but some may be able to walk but wading will be required to get to island rock in middle of the creek.
What to Expect
This is a meet-and-greet event with an optional kayaking component. The event is designed to get cachers out on the water and explore the beautiful scenery and potential kayak-access geocaches in the area.
- Socializing: Meet fellow geocachers, share stories, and pick up hints on those tricky DNFs.
- Paddling: The recommended paddle is up Cockle Creek. This sheltered waterway offers stunning views of the surrounding bushland, sandstone cliffs, and abundant birdlife. The waypoint gives a launch point for the the 25min paddle.
- Fish Spotting: The clear waters of the creek offer a chance to spot local aquatic life! Keep an eye out for common species like bream, flathead, and perhaps even a stingray gliding along the sandy bottom. Share your sightings with the group or logs. Last trip I did saw a large lace monitor swimming across the creek.
Important Information & What to Bring

- A waterproof container for electronic gear/phone (just in case!).
Disclaimer
All water activities are undertaken at your own risk. Please ensure you are comfortable with the conditions and capable of paddling the desired distance. Let someone know your route and expected return time.
Please log your "Will Attend" so we can get an idea of numbers and if you will be using a paddle or not.
We look forward to seeing you there, on the water and off!
