Geocache Description:

We took advantage of a perfect fall day for a paddle on this beautiful lake, and after having our lunch could not resist placing a cache for your enjoyment. Had not come prepared, so scrounged around the kayaks and came up with a container. It has a bright lid, so if the next cacher brought and placed some camo tape on it it would be appreciated. Please place this one back so the muggles will not visit it.

The parking and boat launch area is at the end of Deer Rock Lake Road, which is a gravel road with mostly small-ish potholes, doable by most cars, and is managed by the Quinte Conservation Authority. At the time of publication, there was a parking fee of $12, payable by phone using the instructions given on the signs in the parking lot. Internet and phone connectivity is spotty and you may not get connected until you paddle out into the middle of the lake. Don't panic if you can't pay-by-phone while at the parking area. We usually cannot pay-by-phone for our day pass until we reach the islands. Take a picture of the information on the signs and follow the instructions once you get internet. Please note that cars have been ticketed for not paying especially during summer months. There is camping available on the lake on a first-come, first-serve basis. The parking lot does get full on weekends in July and August, sometimes with motor boat trailers. If you come on a Saturday, you might have to be creative with parking. There is one rustic outhouse at the parking.
