This
Cache is located in Ware County Georgia, near Waycross, at Laura S. Walker
State Park and is easy to walk or bike.
I grew up in the Waycross area and spent many hours at this park.
The lake is beautiful any time of year and offers boating, camping, hiking,
fishing, swimming and golfing. The park and lake are named for Laura S. Walker, a conservationist and wife of
a former Waycross doctor.
President Franklin D. Roosevelt issued a proclamation naming the
park after her making it the only State or National Park named for a living
person. While you are visiting the area be sure and see the Okefenokee
Swamp Park just a few minutes down the road.
If you are a local you'll love the hike you may have never taken
time to see and if you are a new visitor you'll wonder why you haven't
been by earlier.
