This is the tenth along this walk and is a very sneaky micro cache indeed and the difficulty rating reflects this.
It is hidden in plain sight albeit will take a keen cacher's eye to spot. You do not need to move anything. Please replace as found. Not a DSW!
Discover this 4.6 mile (7.4km) circular trail near Cockermouth. It's a moderate route and takes an average of 2h 15min to complete. This lovely trail takes you along the River Derwent, before circling back through the fields and forests, and a short way up the flanks of Elva Hill before returning to where you began. Parking is available along the roadside by Isel Bridge or the Church of St Michael, a beautiful 12th-century church with later Norman features, which was extensively restored in the late 19th century.
You have the option of various circular walks with all paths visible on OS Maps. This makes this lovely trail an all-rounder suiting all ages and abilities and you can complete the series in one or over a few shorter walks.
There can be a few muddy stretches of trail along the route particularly after rainfall, so waterproof footwear is recommended.
Be careful on the steep paths and these can be slippery after rainfall.
Be careful near the river and river bank, particularly with dogs and children, as the current can be fast-flowing and deep in places.
Be careful of the high river levels, particularly September through April in the wettest months, although this is the Lake District so be prepared for every eventuality.
