Interesting facts:
The winter solstice is the day of the year with the fewest hours of daylight. In the northern hemisphere this date falls in December every year. In 2025 the winter solstice will occur on Sunday 21 December.
How much longer do days get after the winter solstice? After this, daylight increases to 9 hours, 15 minutes by New Year's Day. By mid-January, the increase jumps to about two minutes a day. By the 20th of February, daylight speeds up to three minutes per day!
