Let's celebrate all things geocaching and have a picnic. Better yet, let's have a Potluck Picnic! I will provide the hamburgers and hot dogs (buns included
) and ya'll provide the sides, condiments, and drinks. I'll leave ya'll from West Virginia to bring the hot dog toppings though! This will be a great way of sharing your cookout faves with everyone and maybe introducing us to something different. I reserved a shelter for the day so in the event we have rain, well, we can keep celebrating and stay dry! There is parking rreasonably close to the shelter. I will add parking coordinates. You will need to cross the little park bridge to get to the shelter. (We will be in shelter #3.)There is a playground nearby and some hiking trails and geocaches, if you have not found them yet, but feel free to bring any yard games you may want to play (cornhole, etc).
When you log your "Will Attend" please provide the side you are bringing, so that we don't have an abundance of one or two sides and nothing else. There are plenty of tables in the shelter and if we have enough room, we can set up a table to show off, share, or even exchange TB's and pathtags. I have the shelter reserved for the whole day, so we are not limited to only 4 pm, we just have to have the area cleaned and vacated before dark. The earliest I will be there will be a half-hour before to set up the grill.
Some housekeeping stuff:
There is no alcohol allowed in the park. Dogs must be leashed at all times and you must clean up after them. The ground around the shelter is grass and there is a paved walkway leading to the shelter. It is mostly paved around the the swings and playground equipment. There is a creek nearby and at times can be full and rushing; small children need to be watched closely so they won't fall in. The park is a day-use park and closes at dark but there is NO entry fee. There will be a short walk to where the bathrooms are.
