Wherever you are, the solstice marks a time of change and a turning point in the year. Whether you’re experiencing a winter solstice or summer solstice this December, join us in celebrating with a new geocaching souvenir!
Geocachers celebrated the June solstice earlier this year. Some faced dropping temperatures as they cached in the Southern Hemisphere. Meanwhile, in the Northern Hemisphere, geocachers had plenty of long days to find caches and earn the souvenir. This month, they are reversed!
Whichever hemisphere you’re in, the solstice means something to look forward to, as the change of seasons brings on something new!
Geocaching HQ crafted a special souvenir exclusively for geocachers to commemorate the December solstice. Earn this souvenir by finding any geocache, attending any Event, or completing an Adventure Lab® Location from December 20-22, 2024.

It's my tried and true favorite location to gather, so let's aim for it once again, South Medford MOD Pizza! Let's get together Saturday, December 21st, on the first day of winter, to celebrate the solstice and earn our souvenir! Let's do lunch, from 11:30 - 12:30. No purchases necessary of course, but if you choose to, you are responsible for your own bill.
This is meant to be a low-key social gathering for us all to earn our souvenir and chat one last time before Christmas comes!
