Celebrating the June solstice

It’s that time of year again!

The June solstice marks the longest day in the Northern Hemisphere and the shortest day in the Southern Hemisphere.

No matter where you are, the solstice symbolizes change and represents a turning point in the year. It’s a time to celebrate, a time to reflect, and a time to look forward to what will come! Whether you will experience a summer solstice or winter solstice this June, join us in celebration with a new geocaching souvenir!

The solstice happens twice a year as the Earth’s poles tilt away or towards the sun, changing the distribution of the Sun’s rays on each hemisphere. In the Northern Hemisphere, this marks the longest day and the beginning of summer. In the Southern Hemisphere, this is the shortest day and the start of winter.

Whichever hemisphere you’re in, the solstice means something to look forward to, as the change of seasons brings new experiences!

Geocaching HQ crafted a special souvenir exclusively for geocachers to commemorate the June solstice. To add this unique piece to your collection, find one geocache, Event Cache, and/or Adventure Lab® Location June 19-21, 2024.
