According to Idaho history Irish borne Molly Berdoun arrived in Murray, Idaho on a winter's day coming from Thompson falls after rescuing a mother and child from nearly freezing to death , When she arrived into town a barkeep could not pronounce her name so he called her
"Molly B’ Damn". She was later known as Maggie Smith, in an effort to Americanize her name. In her life she was the head Madame in Murray as well as a friend to ailing miners which eventually cost her life from small pox. When you approach this cache please enjoy the history in this area, but be respectful to the grounds of the cemetery, the cache is not in the cemetery itself. The brown head stones are Historical markers A.J. Pritchard is buried here, he is credited to finding the first gold strike in Murray. Looking around the cemetery you might even see a familiar name besides Maggie Smith ( if you printed out this cache ). Go down to Murray afterward and have a burger and beer at the Spragpole and tour the museum, I recommend it.
Enjoy and let us know what ya think of our educational adventure.
