Nursery Trestle Bridge
In June 2003, the 83-meter Nursery Trestie Bridge was restored for recreational use by British Royal Engineers of the 21st Engineer Regiment (Osnabruck, Germany), assisted by 44th Field Engineer Squadron (Trail, B.C.). Restoration priorities included structural repairs, decking and railing.
The project was hosted by Christina Lake Chamber of Commerce and Grand Forks Community Trails Society with contributions from Terason, Phoenix Foundation, Regional District of Kootenay-Boundary, Grand Forks Rotary Club, Christina Lake Golf and Country Club, and Centennial 2003 corporate sponsors.
"Bridges for Canada" In 2000, to commemorate a century of service, Canadian Military Engineers embarked on a three-year program of assisting communities along the Trans Canada Trail, in every province and territory, to construct and restore bridges. Nursery Trestle Bridge stands as a testimonial to the close cooperation between the citizens of Canada and their Canadian Forces military engineers.
