Park Ranger Bonus Cache #15
Welcome to Allegheny Commons Park!
Allegheny Commons is the oldest park in Pittsburgh, dating back to 1867! It was pastures before and slowly was turned into a recreational area in the 1860's by Allegheny City. The park is made up of 3 main parts: Allegheny Commons Park West Park, Allegheny Commons Park North Park, and Allegheny Commons Park East Park. The West Park portion is the largest of the three, and it has housed the National Aviary since 1952 and is home to Lake Elizabeth. The entire park consists of 84 acres.
