Geocache Description:

Bridges over the Eastern Distributor

The Eastern Distributor is a 4.7-kilometre-long motorway in Sydney. Part of the M1, the motorway links the Sydney CBD with Sydney Airport.

The Eastern Distributor separates Sydney's Eastern Suburbs from Sydney's Inner-Southern Suburbs.

The centre-piece is a 1.7 km tunnel running from Woolloomooloo to Surry Hills.

The motorway opened to traffic in December 1999 with the project completed in July 2000. It is only tolled in the northbound direction.

The southern end of the Cahill Expressway (including the Domain Tunnel) is part of the Eastern Distributor which has a total length of 6 kilometres. The length of 4.7 kilometres (above) refers to the length of the motorway constructed in the 1990s between the southern end of Cahill Expressway (Cowper Wharf Road) and the northern end of Southern Cross Drive (Link Road).

There are many Bridges joining the Eastern Suburbs to the CBD and Inner City areas, which were divided by the construction of the ED.

This Geocache series explores these bridges, and can be traversed on foot or by bike, or by driving to nearby parking spots.

Most caches in this series are magnetic mint tins on structures where, or near to where, the Eastern Distributor can be viewed.

B.O.R.ED # -1 will have you on the Wentworth St underpass. The traffic flowing along around Southern Cross Drive and up to the ED can be heard above you from there.

This geocache was part of GC Project: It's Raining Caches 2025.

The project's aim was to create a rain of new geocaches to fall from the sky across the state of NSW at 9am on 19th January 2025 - 1 week before Sydney Geoquest, the first Block Party in the Southern Hemisphere.

Many legendary hiders came together to generously contribute their finest geocaches to build excitement and connection amongst the community and for all finders to enjoy years after the event.

Congratulations to Brewmaker on being FTF !!!

You must have sheltered under the overpass due to the heavy Rain!
