DieCasting is a metal casting process that is characterized by forcing molten metal under high pressure into a mold cavity. A die is a specialized machine tool used in manufacturing industries to form material to a desired shape or profile. The process was first used for, and eventually revolutionized, type setting for publishing newsprint. It was invented in 1838, the first patent was issued in 1849. DieCasting facilitated the growth of consumer goods and appliances, by greatly reducing the production cost of intricate parts in high volumes. The metals that very early toy cars were casted with were lead and tin, while today, usually a zinc-alloy is used.

Welcome to Fletcher creek Ecological Preserve
This 414 acre preserve was acquired by the Hamilton Conservation Authority between 1977 and 1987. It is located at the Headwaters of the Spencer Creek Watershed. This Forest and Wetland complex is an important groundwater recharge area, and has been identified as environmentally sensitive, an area of natural and scientific interest, as well as a provincially significant wetland. The HCA has provided opportunities for hiking and nature appreciation by maintaining a 3km trail system. The trail passes through naturalized fields, cedar forests, over Fletcher Creek and ends at the old Quarry Pond. Enjoy the walk.
