This year, our local (well, nearest) mega event London Calling GCAK7KC
has been granted Block Party
status. It will also have a GPS Maze
, which we haven't had had in the UK for some years. In Celebration of this rare and notable occurrance, let's have a party!
With refreshments, cake, music and games. I like games, I even have one named "Block Party" :-)
So... it's a community celebration event Party, where we can play Block Party, to celebrate this year's London Calling being a Block Party. Ladles and jellyspoons, I present for your entertainment and delectation "a London Calling Block Party Block Party Party"! If only it were held in London itself, then it could have been "a London Party Called London Calling Block Party Block Party Party"...
This celebration event will be held in the church hall of Christ Church Wickford on the afternoon of Saturday 12th April, a few weeks before London Calling itself.
As well as the aforementioned game, there will be more - Jenga, Tetris, Yahtzee and other dice games, ... Feel free to bring along any (preferaby "block" related) games you have; the more the merrier. And, since this is a geocaching event, any trackables for discovery or to move on - they don't necesarily have to be small enough to go in a pocket, so long as they're not too large for me to take on the train and tube to London Calling for their trackables table ;-)
There will be (soft) drinks and I'll bring some snacks and other party food, though Will Attend logs would be appreciated so I have an idea of how much to get. And cake, you can't have a party without cake...
There is parking at the church: From the roundabout with the Wickford village sign, take the exit for the car parks, bear right and continue along past the empty supermarket site, then turn left at the Church signpost into the lower parking area. You should see the Church and its car park straight ahead of you, past the cafe and charity shop. Normally I'd have added "or use the main council car park, it's free at the weekend", except the council recently announced plans to extend the car park charges to include evenings and weekends and it's currently uncertain whether or not this will be the case by the 12th.
Alternatively, it's only a short walk from the railway station and bus stops.
Speaking of bus stops, if you need a photo for this year's "Where's 25?" locationless cache GCA2025, the number 25 buses pass nearby (3 per hour in each direction).
Hope to see you!
