The cache is not at the posted coordinates. This may be a good spot to work on a new year’s resolution, but not a good spot for a for a geocache. Use the following to find the actual cache location:
N34 y.yyy
W84 xx.xxx
To paraphrase a favorite Author (actually, it was a favorite Ford): “Time is an illusion. New Years Day doubly so.”
Regardless, we unquestionably celebrate this particular illusion, which can be described as the periodically occurring unique orientation of the earth’s tilt relative to the sun in the earth-sun planetary plane. Or, from our perspective on the surface of the earth, the position of the earth and sun relative to the background star-field. There are infinite possibilities which could have been chosen for this illusion, but here we are, celebrating one arbitrarily* determined relative earth-sun-stars position with a bunch of pomp and circumstance. To make things even more random, this "event" occurs at 24 different earth-sun-stars positions depending on where you are on earth’s surface. {wait, should this be an Earth Cache?}
But I digress. We could go even deeper, talk about other frames of reference such as the earth-moon (Lunar New Year), and other somewhat random but widely accepted constructs like years, months, hours, minutes, and seconds. There are volumes written about these topics.
But, you are more interested in signing a small piece of paper in a randomly hidden container, so we’ll move on. <insert sigh of relief here>
This particular illusion is when many people set “goals” of things they wish to accomplish between now and the next occurrence of this illusion. The goals vary widely from person to person. Here are some sample goals for the subset of people who like to find hidden containers with small pieces of paper for them to sign:
- Find a unique container with a small piece of paper to sign every day
- Find containers with small pieces of paper to sign which satisfy every difficulty/terrain combination
- Find more containers with small pieces of paper to sign than were found and signed since the previous illusion
- Solve this silly puzzle to find the location of the container so you can sign the small piece of paper inside
What are your New Years Resolutions? What goals do you have for finding containers with small pieces of paper for you to sign? How are you progressing on your goals? Please share in your log.
Now, get started! Solve this silly puzzle and go sign my small piece of paper in my arbitrarily placed container!
Congratulations to wolfling70, GMT!, and MOTGeo for being the first to find my arbitrarily placed container and sign my small piece of paper inside. Being the first will award you with good caching carma between now and the next occurance of this arbitrarily chosen, yet widely accepted earh-sun-stars relationship.
You can validate your puzzle solution with
certitude.
*Arbitrary on the greater planetary scale. There have been many politicians, spiritual leaders, philosophers, and scientists who have influenced our current construct. But, in the greater context, it is still arbitrary, though widely accepted.
