An easy hike in an area where the birdwatching opportunities are abundant.
Although I've lived in this area for more than 10 years, this location was unknown to me until recently. The cache, a 4x5 inch Tupperware box with a green lid, is in a spot that won't require you to violate any of the 'No Tresspassing' or 'Danger' signs that can be found here. It is well hidden but in a place that should be obvious to a veteran geocacher. There is parking just steps from the trailhead as well as drinking water, picnic tables and restroom facilities.
At the trailhead is a list compiled by the Audobon Society listing more than 230 types of birds that have been seen at this location including herons, egrets, geese, ducks, falcons and many more. There is a log for adding birds that you see on your visit -- it included a golden eagle found only two days prior to my visit.
There are more than four miles of public trails here to explore.
