The final location takes you to the site of the Yararoo well that was dug by the chineese for Fowler in the 1800's to a depth of approx 170 feet. The underground water supply surfaces at Port Arthur and is the reason the large trees grow so well there right on the beach also the main reason the mangroves have never closed in that section. The water was of poor quality and was only used to water livestck and the bullock teams that came from the copper mines at Moonta and kadina. Two large water tanks stored the water raised by a horse works pump initially then later an oil engine was used. a long water trough feeds off these tanks.Across the road a feed trough is visable where they fed the hungry bullock teams.
