Martin Luther King Jr. was a pacifist who believed in non-violence and social justice. He was a prominent figure in the Civil Rights Movement in the mid-20th century, participating in and leading marches for racial equality, supervising the 1955-56 Montgomery bus boycott, and giving speeches to the masses. He was killed on April 4th, 1968, at only 39 years old.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Civil Rights Park is a park in south Seattle which features a 30-foot-tall sculpture based on one of MLK's speeches and plaques with information on his accomplishments.
