From the day I was born, I've had a connection to the groundhog. The Pennsylvania Dutch hold the tradition that if the groundhog emerges from its burrow on February 2nd and sees its shadow, it will go back to its den and winter will go on for six more weeks. If it does not see its shadow, spring will arrive early.
