The Spomen obilježje (Memorial) 82. Fočanske BBR is a monument dedicated to the fallen members of the 82nd Foča Mountain Brigade (later the 182nd Foča Knights Brigade) of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ARBiH) during the Bosnian War.
It played a key role in defending Mount Igman and Sarajevo during the Bosnian War (1992–1995). In July 1993, they resisted Operation Lukavac 93, a VRS offensive aiming to cut Sarajevo off. Holding positions near Mount Bjelašnica, they fought for 20 days, suffering 46 dead and over 200 wounded. Their defense kept vital supply routes open, ensuring Sarajevo’s survival. Today, memorials honor their sacrifice.
The Memorial states as following: In July 1993, the Fočan Brigade went hard fights for the defense of Mt. Bjelašnica, Mt. Igman and the approach to Sarajevo. Only during the period of 10-31 July, 46 soldiers of this brigade lost their lives, and 256 of them were wounded.
Please respect the fallen!
