Geocache Description:

Lake Victoria, Victoria Lake or to us Sheppartonians, simply Shepp Lake is probably the leisure hub of Shepparton.

The many attractions of Shepp Lake includes a couple of fantastic playgrounds including an all abilities playground on the western side of the lake, a skate park, a flying fox, open spaces for playing all sorts of ball sports. Plenty of other places to set up for a picnic or use the many bbqs surrounding the lake. you could also try your luck casting a line into the lake. I've seen plenty of people attempting to catch a fish but have never seen anyone pull one in. Keep an eye out for Pelicans on the water and Turtles in the water.

The lake has a sealed path all the way around the lake which is frequented by walkers and runners just about every day of the year. The Shepparton Parkrun is held at Shepp Lake which includes two laps of the lake.

The Shepparton Art Museum (SAM) borders the lake on the eastern edge. Opened in 2021 the free to enter museum is open every day except Tuesday.

The Goulburn River runs beside the western side of the lake and a bridge across the river leads to more sealed walking paths.

The paths around the lake are floodlit at night including a number (between 50 and 70) colured light posts.

The only downside is the lake is not suitable for swimming although watercraft is allowed.

Stay a while and enjoy our beautiful lake
