For some reason, certain citizens of this region seem to think that the Bauxite trailhead is a great place to dump trash, furniture, tires, you name it. So periodically, a group of responsible and caring geocachers comes to clean it up.
You will have the opportunity to be among the esteemed group of those who care enough to clean it up on Sunday, March 16, 2025, starting at 11:00 am. If you can't be there right at the beginning, feel free to come and go as your schedule allows. We will try to finish by 1:00 pm.
Please bring your own work gloves and hand-held trash picker upper thingies (whatever they're called). Bottled water, snacks, and heavy-duty trash bags will be provided. Parking is limited, so please carpool if you can.
At this point, we have no idea what the weather will do that day, so please monitor it and dress accordingly. There are many thorns and thistles in this area, so long, sturdy pants and heavy-duty, closed-toed shoes are advised.
This is probably not the best activity for small children; however, if you choose to bring them, you are personally responsible for their safety and whereabouts. We don't want anyone getting injured or wandering off.
Special thanks to Todd Wever of Southern Adventist University Department of Landscape Services for providing a truck to haul out the trash after the event.
Since this CITO event is being held during the 2025 official CITO Season 1 (as defined by GCHQ), you will earn a badge by attending and logging the event.
