Iowa and the Midwest are known for this sweet treat - they are often served at potlucks, bake sales, and community or family gatherings. Some nice folks even held a geocaching event named Scotcharoooo! (I think they wanted to make sure that someone brought them!
)
Whether you spell it Scotcheroo or Scotcharoo doesn't really matter.
But what does matter is how they are made. Some Scotcheroos are dry and tough. But the secret to making them soft, gooey, and chewy is making them with real butter. Add some vanilla for extra flavoring and you will be good to go.
I've included recipe cards in the cache container so that you can make a cookie sheet pan of Scotcheroos. Grab a card and make a pan of bars today!Â
The cache is hidden along the walking/bike trail in town. Please cover it well to keep it hidden. Due to freezing temps there s no ink pad.
