Kirk F: Thanks to all who attended. The spring growth had not taken over so it was easy to spot the little trash in the area. The giant ragweed seems to be knocked down too. The trees along the dike portion of the trail were knocked down. We wondered about that, so I checked, and found that the Corp of Engineers was worried the tree roots would damage the dike so the City removed them.

If you had signed up for my Community Event in June, please note that I had to change the date to June 21. Hope to see you there.

Everyone has logged attending, so time for this one to go. Maybe we will return in the fall after the mosquitoes go away..

Geocache Description:

Saturday 19 April 2025, 11:00 - 12:30

The City of Galena has allowed caches to be placed along the River Trail. We can give back to the City by helping keep it clean.

You can earn the CITO Souvenir.

There will be time during the CITO for stops at any caches you may not have already found.

We will meet at 11:00 am at the listed coordinates which is a small parking lot. This will give time for caching before and after the event. We will probably finish before 12:30 P.M. I will then head to lunch. Hopefully you can join me. Should that be another event?

This is the East Segment of the trail and Buehler's Preserve. This segment is only about 1.5 miles includiing the loop in the preserve. So we will also clean the segment of trail going through Galena giving us a 3 mile round trip. If you can only do part of the trail, that is fine too.

No motorized vehicles are allowed on the trail.

Bring a pair of gloves and your favorite trash pick up TOTT.
