Cheap Trick is a 4 member American rock band from Rockford Illinois. All 4 members had been in bands starting in high school or before and came together in 1973. These 4 members are considered the core of the band even though there have been changes over the years.
Rick Nielsen is the lead guitarist and primary song writer. Rick is also known for his guitar collection which was featured at the Burpee Museum in Rockford Illinois. He is also a backer for Rock ’n Vodka and the Rockford Hard Rock Café.
Bun E. Carlos was the drummer. Bun is now the band archivist and posts to the Bun E’s Basement YouTube channel. Bun E. was replaced by Daxx Nielsen, Ricks son in 2010.
Tom Petersson plays bass. Tom is the inventor of the 12-string bass. Tom left the band in 1980 but returned in 1987.
Robin Zander is the lead singer and plays guitar. Robin is the only member of the group that has recorded on his own with a self-titled album in 1993 and the rare “Countryside Blvd.” in 2011.
The band has played with or appeared with many other artists such as John Lennon and was selected to perform “Sgt. Pepper Live” at the Las Vegas Hilton for two weeks in September 2009. They have also been attributed as influencing other bands like “The Smashing Pumpkins”, “Pearl Jam”, and “Stone Temple Pilots”.
They were inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame in 2016 along with Chicago and Deep Purple.
