When I was a kid, this was what my dad would say. Not sure why “dumps” was plural – there was only one dumpster to throw our trash in... Anyway, there used to be a dump located at the end of this trail, right before the tunnel. After the railroad removed the ties and rails, the county purchased the right-away to have a better road to get to the dump site. You can read all about it on the information board at the parking lot or see the picture below.
You're looking for a metal ammo can just off the trail. Have fun and enjoy the trail. If you have enough time, its not too far to stroll to the end of the trail where you can see the old railroad tunnel on the other side of the river.
