1/2/04 Notation: Third time is the charm. After our cache came up MIA, we replaced it again today using another 1/2 gallon Coleman drink cooler, painted camo with "Geo-Cache" stenciled on the side. Please rehide well since these seem to grow legs after a while in the bush. Thanks!
4/13/03 Notation: This cache has been pilfered twice previously. Today, I replaced it again with a new cach container (A 1/2 gallon coleman drink cooler, painted camo with "Geo-Cache" stenciled on the side). I have also modified the "hint". Enjoy!
Note: The Pictures were retrieved (12/2001) from the cache camera and posted below. I see that a disposable camera WITH a flash should be standard equipment since not all of the pics turned out. Enjoy! Thanks for visiting!
The cache container is a 2 qt. Coleman drink cooler painted camo with "GEO-CACHE" stenciled on the side. There are several different approaches to the cache. You can park inside the park at N42 20.681 W088 59.238 and hike on foot, but if you enjoy a family bike ride (Very Nice!), park at N42 21.411 W089 01.607. Pick up the paved trail behind the school and follow it East. You will follow a stream and cross a few bridges. There is no automobile traffic so most kids over 5 years of age should have no problem. As your GPS points South, (hint: N42 20.832 W89 00.167) exit the paved trail and cross the stream on the wooden bridge. You will now be back on an old abandoned park road (no autos). Following this route, you never have to leave the trail to "bush-whack" to find the cache.
Bug spray may be necessary depending on weather and drinking water would be nice.
My daughter and I hid the cache and the round trip took us an hour and a half at a casual pace. You can bring a lunch as there are several nice spots along the way to picnic. There is also a picnic area with swings that you will pass during the first 10 minutes. A nice place for the kids to play on your return trip. Enjoy!
At the shelter (N42 20.530 W088 59.935) follow the trail that goes through the shelter house. You can leave your bikes here or ride them up the trail. There are a couple forks in the path so watch your GPS. Keep in mind that you never have to leave the path and tromp through the woods. As the trail narrows, you will come to a spot where there are several fallen trees across the trail.
