In 2025 The students who studied French at Víðistaðaskóli in Hafnarfjörður participated in an Erasmus+ project with Externat Chavagnes school in Nantes, France. Fifteen students from each school participated, along with 5 teachers from both countries. The Icelandic students travelled to Nantes in February and stayed there for a week, welcomed by french families. The French then came to Iceland in March and stayed with Icelandic families. Countries were explored and friends made.
One of the things the students did was to explore Hafnarfjörður while geocaching. As part of that activity, LadyKisa, who lead the Erasmus project in Iceland, placed this cache in honour of Erasmus+ and in this project in particular. Geocaching gives people a wonderful opportunity to discover new places and to form friendships as people go on this treasure hunt in a good group.
For those of you who don't know Erasmus+ I urge you to research it further. It gives European students, volunteers and teachers a great opportunity to discover European countries and make friends at the same time :)
