Geocache Description:

Bushwhack cache with single redirect in Gatineau Park

This cache is at the, well, see the cache name. You could find it with a topo map without using a GPS at all.

The posted coordinates are those of a redirect tag. The tag is easy to get to, being about 15m into the woods from a trail signpost, a bit above eye level, on one of the thicker trees, facing away from the trail.

The cache itself is a bushwhack from this point. In the winter it is a very reasonable snowshoe outing. The cache is between a large tree and a small one about 50cm from it. The small tree has a pink trail marker ribbon tied to it. In winter, just dig straight down between the two and you should find it; it is not hidden.

The container is a 1 gallon plastic container with a 10cm round opening. All non-waterproof items inside are bagged, multiply so if they are particularly vulnerable to moisture. You may wish to take the same precaution with items you leave there, and be sure to double-bag the log book again.

The goodies, as of September 20, 2003, are:

  • Plexiglass block with dried wildflowers in it
  • Pine cone weight from a cuckoo clock
  • Brass door knocker (has "Lees" engraved into it; if that happens to be your name, good for you)
  • Donkey Kong Jr. plush toy
  • T-Rex finger puppet
  • Mario Lemieux action figure
  • Electronic fishing game
  • Small plastic dinosaur
  • Small plastic snake
  • Small plastic model antique car
  • Stone dolphin figure
  • Wind up slug creature from "A Bug's Life"
  • Bag of plastic soldiers
The original cache was destroyed by an animal, possibly because something with a scent was stored in it. To avoid this happening again, do not store food items, or anything else that could attract critters. Thanks.
