50th Birthday Bash Cache
The trail is easily accessed and can be traversed on foot, mountain bike, cross country skis, or even on horseback. The distance one way is just over two kilometres over rolling terrain through beautiful, mountainous country. There is an option to continue on for about 19 kilometres after you find the cache. The coordinates given are accurate to within 10 metres.
Park at N51 09.650 W115 33.588. The trail starts at the south end of the parking lot. At N51 09.405 W115 33.227 the trail forks--stay right. There is another fork at N51 09.009 W115 32.841. This time go left on the trail less travelled down towards the river. As you get closer to the river, there is an easy-to-miss path going off to the right sharply uphill at N51 08.848 W115 32.708. Follow this for about 75 feet. The cache is nearby.
On the left side of the path you will see three small diameter evergreens with two sticks wedged between them at about waist level. From this point, if you look on the right side of the path slightly downhill from your position and about 50 feet away, you will see a lone deciduous tree about 10 inches in diameter. The cache is at the base of this tree. Enjoy the cool gadgets and gizmos!
