“Music is the soundtrack of our lives,” Dick Clark once quipped.  There is no doubt that we all have songs and albums that we remember as being significant for any number of reasons over the course of our lives.  Whether it be pop, rock, blues, country, jazz, classical and, yes, even rap, these tunes evoke fond memories and stay with us forever.

I have created a list of what I consider to be my favourite albums over my lifetime.  It is influenced by the era I grew up in and would likely be considered primarily a “classic rock” list. I certainly would not expect anyone to agree wholeheartedly with my list, but chances are that one or two of these entries might make your list as well.

Bruce has easily been my favourite artist since the release of Born to Run in 1975. It was very difficult to choose only one Bruce album for my top ten, but I vowed to choose ten different artists.  I landed on Darkness mainly because it was released in the spring of my Grade 13 year (Ontario boy) and Prove It All Night obviously became the theme song for our grad night. Other great tracks include Badlands, Streets of Fire, The Promised Land and Something in the Light.  I finally realized a lifelong dream by seeing Bruce and the E Street Band in Edmonton last fall.  A concert for the ages.  Darkness on the Edge of Town was no. 91 on Rolling Stone’s Top 500 Albums of all time (2023 version – Born to Run was no. 21)
